Our HR Manager's life in secondment at Baker Tilly Mooney Moore

It hasn't all been work for Ana Fornieles, our HR Manager at Baker Tilly Spain, who is halfway through her three-month secondment at Baker Tilly Mooney Moore. From Barcelona, Ana has been impressed by the charm and welcoming character of the city of Belfast and its surroundings. Working primarily for Baker Tilly Spain while in Belfast, Ana has made sure to experience the best of the culture and lifestyle while developing her confidence in the English language.

Live music, sightseeing, nights on the town and the Belfast Marathon have been high on her to-do list. She has been impressed by the city's music scene and has attended several live music performances, something she says translates easily regardless of your background or the language you speak.

In October, Ana ran eight kilometers of the Belfast City Marathon as part of one of five Baker Tilly Mooney Moore teams taking part in the race for AWARE NI, Northern Ireland's depression charity. Anne found the challenge a useful way to meet colleagues, look after her body and mind and see more of the city on foot through her training. Baker Tilly Mooney Moore are delighted that Anne took up the challenge and are very proud that, along with her colleagues, she has raised over £1,000 for the charity.

Since arriving in Northern Ireland in the hope of visiting some of the famed coastline and local attractions, Anne has toured the entire city of Belfast, taken in the sights from Cave Hill and seen some of the top attractions on the north coast, such as the Giant's Causeway and the Dark Hedges.

Secondment originated through Baker Tilly International, our global network of independent accounting and business advisory firms in 148 territories.  With expertise in multiple areas, including Tax, Legal, Corporate Finance, Audit & Assurance and Advisory Services, this network presents a wealth of opportunities to explore different cultures and collaborate with international colleagues on emerging issues with relevance around the world.

Ana Fornieles, Head of Human Resources at Baker Tilly Spain, said:

"My time in Northern Ireland so far has been amazing. Although it has been very busy, I am delighted to have done so many things, such as charity walks, the Belfast City Marathon, visits to the north coast and a taste of the hospitality and nightlife. This is a small and welcoming place, where the people are friendly and sociable and where there is always something to explore and enjoy."

"Aunque elegí Belfast como lugar para trabajar en la mejora de mi inglés, no esperaba la atención que me mostró el resto del equipo de Baker Tilly Mooney Moore. Estoy agradecida al equipo por haberme apoyado aquí y me alegro de que Irlanda del Norte siga siendo el lugar hermoso y acogedor que era cuando la visité por primera vez a los dieciocho años."

Donal Laverty, consulting partner at Baker Tilly Mooney Moore, said:

"Ana is the perfect example of all that is possible through the Baker Tilly International network. She has seized the opportunity and has had a busier social calendar of her time here so far than most of us would have in a year. With years of HR experience behind her, Ana has brought a fresh perspective to Baker Tilly Mooney Moore. It has been a pleasure to collaborate with a global colleague and I hope that the way we do things here, both professionally and socially in general, has been an enjoyable and enriching experience."
